Muscle Shoals Recording Studio

Muscle Shoals Recording Studio was opened in 1969 in Alabama by four local session players popularly known as the MS Rhythm Section and included musicians Barry Beckett, Roger Hawkins, David Hood and Jimmy Johnson. David Hood was the bass guitarist of the group and was also the co-founder of this Studio. The four local players quickly became renowned as musicians on classics and produced great works.

Success of another group Dire Straits promoted that in1979 Bob Dillon has invited it to take part in record of the new album Slow Train Coming. To refuse the invitation would be madness and the musicians accept conditions and in the beginning of May write down parties of tools in Muscle Shoals Sound studio. Barry Beckett produced the album. Work with Bob Dillon has finally confirmed the "star" status of the group and very fast it became famous.

The MSRS was measured as one of the finest studio rhythm sections in the world. The members of the Rythm Section included Jimmy Johnson; at drums were Roger Hawkins, the co-founder on bass, on keyboards. They choose a new location in 1978 and opened a new studio complex on a beautiful riverside. With the opening of this studio, the founders of Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section continued to explore the realms of productions and focused on their new album. They mark a number of artists for recordings, including Frankie Miller, Lenny LeBlanc, Russell Smith and several others.

Today, music lovers and audio recording professionals know very well about the best recording studios, the Muscle Shoals Recording Studios. In the 19060's the city was loaded with outstanding talents and many of them came to the studios for recordings. The studio also acted like a school for learning, and allowed both pro and novices to learn about audio recording, mixing and usage in video. Most of the recordings were done on Tascam DA-78 tapes, and saved on hard disk machines.

Many prominent names like Jerry Carrigan led to the success of Muscle Shoals. Jerry helped to develop Music Shoals as a thriving music community. He also worked with Roger Nichols, the Grammy-winning engineer and producer. The great Texas singer and songwriter Blaze Foley also accepted an offer from a friend to make a record at the Muscle Shoals Studio in Alabama in 1984.
